Internal Family Systems Therapy with Dominic Hatcher
Therapy for people experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, burnout and the lasting effects of developmental and relational trauma.
A calm, confidential space to understand yourself more clearly and create meaningful, lasting change.
Welcome to a different way of understanding yourself
I offer one-to-one Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy for adults who want to move beyond simply managing their symptoms and begin to understand the underlying patterns that shape how they feel, think and relate - to themselves, to others and to the demands of their lives.
This work is gentle, collaborative, and paced according to what feels manageable for you. Sessions are guided by attunement, somatic inquiry, and an understanding of nervous system regulation, creating a supportive space to get to know your parts with care and sensitivity.
Who this therapy is for
I work with adults experiencing:
● Anxiety, chronic stress and emotional overwhelm
● Perfectionism, pressure and burnout
● Difficulty switching off or feeling constantly “on”
● Depression and emotional heaviness
● Relationship and attachment difficulties
● Emotional reactivity, shutdown or numbness
● Inner conflict, shame and harsh self-criticism
● Developmental and relational trauma
● PTSD and complex PTSD (CPTSD)
● Feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure of yourself
You don’t need to have a diagnosis or be in crisis to begin therapy. You may simply have a sense that something isn’t working, that familiar patterns keep repeating, or that you’d like to understand yourself more clearly.
At the heart of this work are a few simple principles:
Nothing inside you needs to be fought or pushed away. Even the parts of you that feel difficult, confusing or self-defeating often developed for a reason, and can be met with understanding and compassion rather than resistance.
Understanding comes before change. Rather than trying to force yourself to think, feel or behave differently, we begin by getting curious about what’s happening for you and why.
We move at the speed of trust. You’re always in control of what we explore and how deeply we go. There’s no pressure to talk about anything that isn’t comfortable for you and we let your parts lead the way.
Your body is part of the conversation. Alongside thoughts and feelings, we can gently notice what’s happening in your body, as it often holds important information about your experience.
Compassion and curiosity can change your relationship with yourself. As you begin to understand the different parts of yourself, there can be more space for calm, clarity, confidence and choice.
You are an active part of the process. Your system and your parts lead the session, with you setting the pace and depth at all times. I’m here to support and guide you as you explore and build a relationship with the parts of you that are ready to be heard.
My approach is:
IFS & Somatic IFS informed (parts-based) – working with different aspects (parts) of you to help unburden and restore trust and safety in your system.
Somatic and embodied – tracking sensations, impulses, breath, and nervous-system states, not just thoughts
Trauma-informed and carefully paced – especially with developmental trauma, PTSD and CPTSD
Relational and deeply attuned – using the therapeutic relationship as part of the healing field
Grounded in presence and Self-energy – supporting curiosity, compassion, clarity, and calm to lead the process
• Integrative – informed by my background in trauma-informed yoga, somatic practices, sound therapy and ceremonial space-holding
My work is primarily informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), alongside my background in trauma-informed yoga, somatic practices and other embodied approaches.
